We are facing an epidemic of pornography online of which the repercussions are still not fully understood. In fact it is frightening. With the click of a mouse, anyone, at any age, at any time can view porn online.

Governments are still tied up by the “it’s a free-speech issue” argument. The porn industry has managed to hold onto the idea that porn is victimless entertainment which involves only the user and the consenting adults who participate. Regulations has yet to catch up with reality and with technology. In a world where anyone can produce and upload porn videos or images, the web is becoming filled to the brim with hardcore pornography and disturbing content that no-one should be exposed to, aside from our children!

A written report from the Witherspoon Institute in Princeton, N.J.,entitled, “The Social Costs of Pornography” points to new social science and brain research, and finds evidence that pornography causes multifaceted harms and warns that we will pay the price for this.

Porn is teaching negative behaviors and attitudes towards sexuality. Even though for adults this is often a big problem, for children which are seeing it, it is a disaster that may impact their ability to have almost any healthy sexual relationship if they grow up.

There is no quantity of education or warning that can prevent children from viewing pornography on the net today. The average child will dsicover porn by age eleven online. Children are curious, children share links by email, by chat, on smart phones… Really the only solution today is to use a porn filter on each computer that your child has access to.
